Financial Analyst
Compensation Range
$75K - $90KCompensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, and may also be influenced by internal equity and market conditions.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to report to the CFO and support the Finance team with budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting, bank and credit card reconciliations, payment recording, vendor maintenance, customer account clearing, commission and rebate processing, and monthly purchase reporting. The successful candidate will bring strong accounting fundamentals, advanced Excel skills, excellent organizational ability, and the confidence to work accurately in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting, Budgeting, and Forecasting
- Assist the CFO with annual budgeting, including input gathering, schedule preparation, assumption validation, and consolidation.
- Support forecasting and reforecasting throughout the year; analyze results against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, dashboards, variance analysis, management reporting packages, and ad hoc analysis.
Banking, Cash Management, and Reconciliations
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate variances in a timely manner.
- Record and maintain recurring and pre-authorized payments, including utilities, leases, government remittances, taxes, insurance, and other obligations.
- Support cash book entries, payment tracking, related GL activity, and corporate credit card/expense reconciliations.
Accounts Receivable and Customer Account Support
- Clear and reconcile customer accounts, including consignment, rebate, deduction, and other offsetting activity.
- Investigate and resolve account discrepancies with Sales, Customer Service, and Finance; support month-end AR review and follow-up.
Accounts Payable and Vendor Support
- Maintain supplier records, including new vendor setup and updates to existing supplier information.
- Perform supplier banking verification and support internal controls related to vendor master data.
- Prepare rebate, commission, and other payable items for review, approval, processing, and documentation.
Commissions, Rebates, and Buying Group Reporting
- Prepare commission payable calculations, rebate payable documentation, and related payment support.
- Compile and submit monthly purchase reporting to buying groups, supplier programs, or external partners; maintain supporting schedules and recurring deadlines.
Month-End, Reporting, and Process Improvement
- Assist with month-end close activities, account reconciliations, journal entries, variance follow-up, recurring schedules, and audit support.
- Identify process improvements related to reconciliations, reporting, vendor maintenance, payment processes, and financial analysis.
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, data validation, reconciliations, and financial modelling.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems and expense management tools is an asset.
- Experience preparing management reports, variance analysis, budgets, or forecasts is an asset.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, organization, time management, and ability to manage multiple recurring deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and comfort working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Working toward CPA designation is an asset but not required.
