Compensation Range
$55KCompensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, and may also be influenced by internal equity and market conditions.
The Dispatcher role is responsible for maintaining communication with customers and drivers in order to organize and keep track of all the daily operations. This individual is tasked with scheduling and dispatching drivers/equipment for delivery of freight. They will interact with customers and respond to all inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner. The dispatcher will work in conjunction with the rest of the dispatch team as well as with other departments in the organization.
- Develop a culture of safety, professionalism, and service excellence in all areas of operations
- Act as a liaison between customers and drivers
- Plan and manage employee/Owner Operator work schedules to service commitment requirements
- Coordinate equipment to meet requirements for daily operations, work closely with fleet maintenance to address equipment deficiencies
- Be aware of Driver and Owner Operator Activities
- Develop a thorough understanding of TMW System, satellite tracking (PeopleNet), and other applicable applications
- Enter all ACE and ACI manifests based on dispatch’s planning and driver confirmations
- Responsible for CTPAT – PIP seal allocation
- All other duties as assigned.
Position will evolve to include
- Assisting with pre-planning outbound orders
- Gradually take over assignments from Dispatch Supervisor (outbound or backhaul loads). This will be based on individual comfort level
- Become “go-to” person for all matters concerning PeopleNet
- Knowledgeable about Hours-of-Service regulations
- Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot
- Geographical knowledge (i.e., Eastern Canada, Eastern USA, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Highly organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills (oral & written)
- Ability to understand and interpret instructions
- Computer skills (TMW System experience an asset)
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma (minimum)
- Post-secondary education in Dispatch/Logistics (or equivalent work experience)
- 3-5 years of experience
