Assistant Controller

Compensation Range
$95K - $100KCompensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, and may also be influenced by internal equity and market conditions.
Description
Responsibilities:
- Decision Making & Approvals
- Review and approve customer credit applications.
- Oversee slow moving and obsolete inventory management strategies.
- Approve bank payments and support cash flow management.
- Provide guidance and support to the accounting team for escalated issues, and act as the back up for the Director of Finance.
- Risk & Compliance
- Manage banking relationships and support treasury activities.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors – handing CRA, US tax and cross border compliance.
- Oversee tariff, customs and duty related issues.
- Ensure internal controls and financial policies are executed and followed.
- Systems & Process Improvement
- Troubleshoot ERP related issues.
- Support data integrity and reporting accuracy.
- Collaborate with operations, supply chain and sales on financial impacts.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
- Support Month-End & Reporting
- Review reconciliations and schedules prepared by the accounting team.
- Assist with variance analysis and management reporting.
- Provide oversight to ensure timely and accurate month-end close
Qualifications
Education Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance management.
Knowledge Essential:
- 5+ years of plant accounting experience, with expertise in costing, inventory, planning and budgeting.
- Industrial manufacturing experience and an understanding of production processes and procedures.
- Experience with intercompany transactions.
- Advanced working knowledge of QuickBooks, ERP systems and Excel formulations
