Description
We are looking for an Estimator to join our team with a strong background in manufacturing and construction processes. Reporting to the Director of Estimating, the successful candidate will play a critical role in developing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and supporting bid strategies.
- Prepare detailed and accurate project estimates based on drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
- Analyze proposals, drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Collaborate with internal teams including engineering, project management, and purchasing.
- Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and maintain up-to-date cost databases.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options to improve bid competitiveness.
- Support the preparation of tender and proposal documents, including detailed breakdowns and narrative justifications.
- Participate in project hand-off meetings to ensure continuity and clarity between estimating and operations teams.
- Maintain awareness of current market trends and pricing in materials, labor, and subcontracted work.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating process.
Qualifications
- College Diploma in Architectural Technology, Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
- 5+ years of estimating experience within a glazing, unitized curtain wall manufacturing or construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of estimation tools, material take-offs, and bid strategies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; advanced Excel skills are essential.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify risks and opportunities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external vendors.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
