QA Assistant Manager
Compensation Range
$95K - $100KCompensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, and may also be influenced by internal equity and market conditions.
The QA Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the Quality Assurance Manager in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure that all products meet customer specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements. The role assists the QA manager to oversee product quality throughout the manufacturing process, participate in the quality improvement initiatives, supervise laboratory and inspection activities, and drives continuous improvement to minimize defects and customer complaints.
Quality Management
- Assist in maintaining the Quality Management System (ISO 9001). Monitor compliance with customer specifications, IEC, ANSI, IEEE, CSA, and other relevant standards for high voltage insulators.
- Ensure product quality from incoming raw materials through finished goods.
- Assist QA manager in keeping quality control procedures and inspection plans up to date.
- Support external, customer, and certification audits.
Process Quality Control
- Supervise incoming, in-process, and final product inspections.
- Monitor key manufacturing processes including:
- Raw material inspection
- Injection molding
- Metal fitting assembly
- Machining
- Aluminum casting
- Packaging and shipment
- Ensure inspection records are accurate and complete.
- Assist in maintaining quality records and inspection reports.
- Prepare monthly quality performance reports.
- Ensure Certificates of Analysis (COA), inspection reports, and customer documentation comply with company procedures.
Testing and Laboratory Supervision
- Oversee mechanical, electrical, and material testing activities.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of testing equipment is up to date.
- Review laboratory reports and authorize product release.
- Supervise QA inspectors and laboratory technicians.
Nonconformance Management
- Participate in investigation of product defects and customer complaints through NC process.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis using 8D, Fishbone Diagram, 5 Why, Pareto Analysis
- Cooperate in implementing corrective and preventive actions across the plant.
Continuous Improvement
- Cooperate in continuous improvement projects to reduce defects and improve process capability.
- Analyze quality trends using statistical methods.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including:
- Scrap Rate
- Rework Rate
- Customer Complaint Rate
- Internal and External PPM
- Support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives.
Supplier and Customer Quality
- Evaluate supplier performance.
- Participate in supplier audits.
- Assist in resolving supplier quality issues.
- Participate in customer quality meetings.
- Support product qualification and approval processes.
Education
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
Technical Knowledge
- ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Root Cause Analysis methodologies
- Calibration systems
- Quality data analysis using Excel, Minitab, or similar software
- Lean Six Sigma certificate is an asset
- Process capability analysis (Cp/Cpk) is an asset
