Compensation Range

Description
- Process semi-monthly payroll accurately and within established deadlines
- Review timesheets and payroll submissions for completeness and accuracy
- Enter payroll and benefit changes, adjustments, deductions and other approved transactions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records
- Process applicable premiums and other compensation items
- Respond to routine employee payroll inquiries and resolve payroll discrepancies as appropriate
- Prepare routine payroll reports and payroll reconciliations of statutory remittances. This includes monthly and annual payroll process (i.e. payroll year end process, T4 process). If a payment is required, prepare necessary document to the accounts payable department.
- Prepares monthly payroll and benefit journal entries for the accounting software
- Completes monthly reconciliation of salary and benefit accounts and assist with the organization’s audit
- Reconcile statutory remittances against the payroll system and accounting system. And, if payment is required prepare necessary documents to the accounts payable department.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and employee information.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Payroll, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. PCP designation or working toward PCP is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Working knowledge of payroll legislation and requirements, including Employment Standards, statutory deductions, vacation pay, taxable benefits and year-end reporting.
- Experience with semi-monthly payroll processing, payroll reconciliations, employee records and payroll reporting.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills, with the ability to meet payroll deadlines.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to respond professionally to employee payroll inquiries.
- Strong numeracy and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve routine payroll discrepancies.
- Demonstrated judgment, discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive payroll and employee information.
- Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with Finance and Human Resources.
