Description
  • Support the Supervisor/Director with day-to-day operations and administrative tasks of the childcare centre
  • Reports directly to the Centre Supervisor/Director and works collaboratively with the leadership team to support the effective operation of the centre.
  • Conduct in-person tours of the childcare centre for prospective families, providing a warm, welcoming, and informative experience while highlighting the centre’s programs, environment, philosophy, and approach to care.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, educators, and team members, ensuring a supportive and professional environment.
  • Respond to day-to-day challenges with a solution-focused approach and the ability to make sound decisions and judgement in a fast-paced childcare environment.
  • Adapt to changing needs and priorities while maintaining a consistent, reliable, and high standard of care and service.
  • Support the daily operations of the centre, working collaboratively with educators and leadership to ensure the centre runs smoothly and effectively.
  • Demonstrate dependability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to the children, families, and team.
  • Take initiative and identify opportunities to improve program quality, staff support, family experience, and centre operations.
  • Demonstrate the potential and willingness to take on increased responsibilities, with opportunities to progress into a Centre Supervisor role.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate programming aligned with How Does Learning Happen? and Reggio-inspired practices
  • Work directly with children in the classroom as required, supporting their learning, development, and well-being.
  • Help maintain compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and knowledge of Ministry licensing requirements
  • Observe, document, and support children’s development using emergent curriculum practices
  • Assist with staff scheduling, classroom coverage, ratios, breaks, and daily staffing needs.
  • Support the implementation of health, safety, and Toronto Public Health (TPH) sanitation standards
  • Contribute to a collaborative, positive, and professional workplace culture
  • Communicate effectively with families and assist in responding to questions, concerns, and day-to-day matters in a professional and respectful manner.
Qualifications
  • Candidates must currently reside in Ontario, Canada.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada without requiring a work permit or employer sponsorship.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in a licensed childcare setting
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in the office
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or mentoring experience considered an asset
  • Knowledgeable and/or experienced with the Reggio Emilia philosophy
  • Strong understanding of How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years
  • Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with children, families, and staff
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours and the ability to assist with operational needs as required
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and childcare management software (Parent Communication applications; Lillio (HiMama), BrightWheel, etc.)
  • Commitment to the centre’s philosophy, values, and commitment to high-quality early learning and care
  • Valid Standard First Aid/CPR Level C certification
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check (required upon hire)
  • Up-to-date health and immunization records
  • Upon hire, candidates will be required to provide 2-Step TB test and immunization records (Tetanus, MMR)
