Description
The identification, validation, and research of new products, from conception to launch. May also evaluate technical feasibility and assist with design optimization.
Expected Results
▪ Build a vision for the product and craft a roadmap to describe the product evolution towards that vision.
▪ Take the product from development, to launch, sustaining, and through end-of-life.
General Responsibilities
- Follow up with our salespeople and customers to ascertain that we know exactly what the customer wants.
- Ensure that the new product checklist corresponds to what the customer wants for every quote.
- Perform the quoting of new extrusion profiles as required by customers as well as follow up to secure new extrusion jobs or to make modifications as required
- Maintain excellent customer and vendor relationships.
- Assist the sales department as required.
- Perform the design of dies and related tooling for all new profiles provided by customers, die modifications and all internal projects within required time frames.
- Use IQ Project Manager to create tooling quotes, and work orders and track progress and costs. Employ continuous improvement to reduce costs.
- Create initial BOMs and review first-run results to corroborate BOM data and make any necessary adjustments.
- Die Development and Testing – Coordinate with R&D and sales department and tool room to ensure customers’ requirements are met; send samples to customers, follow-up with customers to get approvals or make modifications where required.
- Assist R&D in developing new processes as required.
- Use best buy practices to source and purchase tool room supplies.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 education with some manufacturing machine operation/set up experience
- Drafting experience using Mastercam or CAD
- Engineering education is a very strong asset
- Computer proficiency in MS Office applications (Word/Excel/Outlook)
