Description
Responsibilities:
Program Coordination and Support (40%)
- Support the implementation of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives by coordinating programs, resources, and activities that promote a more inclusive environment across the organization.
- Monitor participation and engagement in EDI activities and contribute to the evaluation of programs to identify opportunities for improvement and assess progress.
- Assist with EDI-related components of accreditation processes, including documentation and evidence-gathering in alignment with relevant standards.
- Support the development of reporting tools and dashboards to help track progress on EDI goals and contribute to internal and external reporting requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Education (40%)
- Build and deliver EDI educational initiatives, including organizing training sessions, workshops, and learning opportunities for staff at all levels.
- Collaborate with HR and organizational leaders to reinforce inclusive practices and ensure EDI considerations are integrated into day-to-day operations, workforce programs, and internal communications.
- Build relationships with internal stakeholders to support a culture of inclusion and belonging, ensuring the needs of diverse populations are reflected in organizational practices.
- Coordinate EDI-related communications and resources that reflect (organizations) commitment to inclusion across internal and external audiences, including staff materials and community engagement.
Policy and Practice Support (20%)
- Partner with Human Resources to enhance equity in recruitment, hiring, promotion, and retention efforts, providing input on inclusive practices and supporting outreach to diverse candidate pools.
- Collaborate with HR, Occupational Health, organizational leaders, and other key stakeholders to implement policies and practices that address discrimination, harassment, and systemic barriers, ensuring alignment with Baycrest’s non-discrimination and human rights policies.
- Provide guidance to ensure that workplace health, safety, and well-being programs are inclusive and culturally responsive to the needs of staff, clients, families, and the broader Baycrest community.
- Support the organization in applying an equity lens to operational practices, identifying barriers, and promoting inclusive service delivery in collaboration with program and clinical leaders.
Qualifications
Minimal level of formal education required:
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field; degree in equity studies, disability studies, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
Certification, Accreditation and Licensure:
- Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP) – offered by the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI) (asset)
- Anti-racism, Indigenous cultural safety, or accessibility training through recognized programs or institutions (asset)
Minimum number of years’ experience required:
- Five years of progressive experience and accomplishments advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in a complex organization in a leadership role
Technical Skills & Professional Knowledge:
- Ability to partner on strategic issues and policies to bring best practices to critical parts of organizational culture
- Proven experience in developing, implementing, and assessing EDI strategies, initiatives, and programs
- Comprehensive understanding of current research, best practices, and legislative frameworks related to EDI and/or anti-oppression, and how these affect staff and client experiences, especially those from underrepresented groups
- Experience working in a healthcare or unionized setting (preferred)
- Experience partnering with senior management
- Consistent record of advancing equity and justice initiatives that demonstrates the ability to develop and implement successful strategies and initiatives
Tools/Equipment:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience using Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), survey or learning management platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, or e-learning tools)
Other Skills/Competencies:
- Demonstrated cross-cultural competencies, including strong emotional intelligence, influencing skills, and the ability to engage and build relationships with underrepresented communities and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Effective communication and facilitation skills across diverse audiences
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Ability to apply an equity lens to policies, practices, and organizational processes
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Ontario Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act)
- Able to exercise excellent professional judgment
