Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the Power business in the Ontario region.
  • Conduct and prepare frequent workplace inspections reports as per COMPANIES and client requirements.
  • Complete Incident Investigations as per the COMPANIES and client process requirements.
  • Establish personal credibility and demonstrate expertise in the Powerline industry.
  • Work effectively as a team member, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating business leaders as needed across the Power division.
  • Build strong internal relationships with other departments across the organization and external relationships with Power clients.
  • Facilitate, coordinate training courses and COMPANIES/client orientations as needed as per the requirements of apprentices and journeymen.
  • Take part in, and represent the company during Power site meetings and client safety meetings.
  • Organize and manage the personal protective equipment program specific to the Power division.
  • Dedication to teamwork and leadership.
  • Demonstrate advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expertise in the creation of Powerline work methods and procedures in relation to the Overhead Powerline industry.
  • Participate in the evaluation and development of the health, safety & environment management system design and implementation, process improvement regarding the Powerline industry.
  • Travel as necessary across Ontario if required to meet with clients, visit/audit projects and perform/coordinate identified training programs.
  • Ensure management systems meet all company certifications and are maintained for all required audits, ongoing requirements.
  • Respond to corrective actions following audits, investigations if the HSEMS requires improvement.
  • Accountable for supporting a proactive Somerville Safety Culture.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10-years experience as a Powerline Journeyman with 5 years related experience in health and safety preferred.

Preferred designations:

  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or working towards.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or working towards.
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or working towards.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including MS Project.
  • Able to establish and maintain good working relationships with many different people including senior managers, clients and field personnel.
  • Able to solve problems and take initiative.
  • Able to travel across Canada.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
