Financial Services Manager – Investments

Description

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have both strong technical investment skills and a solid overall knowledge of lending and other banking products and services. Key responsibilities include:

Investments

  • Manages and oversees the investment/deposit function and a small investment team.
  • Meets with members to discuss and assist with investment and overall financial needs (including RRSP, RRIF and estate administration).
  • Cross-selling of various products, registered products and services to ensure optimal utilization of products by members, ensuring alignment with their financial goals and risk tolerance.
  • Liaise with QTrade to refer members for mutual fund products and services and more complex financial planning needs.

Lending

  • Conducts interviews with members to identify lending needs including but not limited to providing individualized financial counseling or restructuring of business debts to members regarding credit services and deposit products offered through the credit union.
  • Underwrites and approves residential mortgages and consumer loans within assigned limits and processes documentation.
  • Fills in for FSM-Credit in their absence.

Sales and Business Development

  • Leads sales efforts by proactively contacting members and selling the company’s products and services based on members stated and unstated needs. Leads and supports other employees at the company in proactive sales calling. Represents the company in business development activities in the community.
  • Oversees marketing efforts of individuals responsible for such.
  • Strengthens partnerships with members by identifying when additional credit union products (including insurance services) are beneficial to the member; solicits new members; fosters business development through service excellence and product knowledge and other networking opportunities.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3-5 years investment and lending experience at a financial institution as a personal banker/financial service representative.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience with a strong ability to coach and mentor others.
  • A related degree/ diploma or other relevant post-secondary training (note: mutual fund license is not required).
  • Proven investment/deposit knowledge and skills (including RRSP, RRIF, and CSB’s).
  • Knowledge of estate and trustee administration as well as insurance and other auxiliary services.
  • A solid understanding of retail loans and mortgages (including self-employed customers and other unique situations).
  • Financial planning knowledge and familiarity with all products and services in the financial services industry.
  • A proven track record of providing excellent member/customer service and meeting sales targets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a team orientation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • A strong level of computer skills related to required applications such as banking and loan systems as well as MS Office applications (especially Excel).

Assets:

  • Credit union experience.
  • Knowledge of Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) regulations.
