Compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, and may also be influenced by internal equity and market conditions.

Description
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income
    statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations,
    and general ledger maintenance.
  • Perform job costing and monitor project budgets, committed costs, and profitability.
  • Analyze project costs, identify cost variances, and provide financial recommendations to project managers
    and senior leadership.
  • Prepare and maintain work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and support revenue recognition in accordance
    with applicable accounting standards.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including subcontractor payments, progress billings,
    holdbacks, and collections.
  • Process payroll for salaried and hourly employees, ensuring compliance with applicable payroll legislation
    and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
  • Support external audits, tax preparation, and year-end financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable financial regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, operations, and executive leadership to provide timely
    financial reporting and project performance insights.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing, WIP reporting, percentageof-
    completion accounting, and project cost management.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar ERP
    systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, account reconciliations, and financial
    reporting.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA or CPA candidate) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with union payroll, subcontract management, and construction contracts is preferred.
  • Familiarity with lien legislation, holdback requirements, and construction tax regulations is an asset.
