Mapping & Inventory CAD Technician
Salary/Compensation
$55K - $60KThe successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
• Drafts high-quality burial space maps in AutoCAD of cemetery gardens & concept cemetery structure floor plans and elevations ensuring compatibility with detailed company standards and processes.
• Draft conceptual garden layout and inventory plans and small building layout (specifically; floor plans, elevations, etc.) using AutoCAD.
• Prepare, for stakeholders, inventory analysis and projections through property acreage maps, inventory reports/data, draft and compile as constructed information on master drawings.
• Collaborate with and support Operations personnel using AutoCAD and/or GPS/GNSS software/hardware for field data collection.
• Coordinate drawings with topographic surveys and aerial photos in AutoCAD and GIS mapping.
• Edit and maintain GIS maps and geo-spatial databases ensuring compatibility with company standards and processes.
• Collaborate with internal Landscape Designers and Construction Project Managers to develop sketches and plans as required.
• Cooperation with internal departments to provide updated maps or data collections.
• Coordinates with external GIS mapping specialists, GNSS field data collection specialists and topographic surveyors.
• Potential to assist with data analytics using GIS, Excel, and other data sources/applications as necessary.
• Update department drafting standards and maintain drawing archives.
• Assists Managers within the department as required.
• Ability to work a hybrid model with a split of days between home and office (home internet connectivity is required)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for this role:
• A College Diploma in CAD Mapping/cartography and Geographic Information Systems and/or related equivalent education; from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• General Architectural drafting skills (specifically; floor plans, elevations, etc.) is preferred.
• Minimum 2 – 3 years’ experience (including coop or summer internships) of AutoCAD drafting and GIS mapping. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Very strong AutoCAD skills with exceptional detailed attention to drawing organization and drafting standards.
• Understanding of geographical information systems and geo-spatial databases. Experience with the programs; Esri, FME, are an asset.
• Knowledge of Global Navigation Satellite Systems and field data collection processes. Experience with GNSS hardware and software (i.e. Trimble (R2) receiver is an asset.
• Knowledge of understanding surveys and topographical mapping is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office; Excel, Word and PowerPoint and file management
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize duties, to meet deadlines and work independently or as part of a team with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Excellent attention to detail and a consistently high level of accuracy.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; verbal, written and presentation. Can demonstrate strong customer service skills.
• Provides assistance to colleagues on matters related to drafting standards, procedures, equipment and design assignments.
