Description

Establish a Comprehensive FP&A Framework:

  • Develop and maintain a consolidated view of FP&A across the business, ensuring alignment with controllership governance and internal controls.
  • Develop and Implement Best Practices. Foster a well-controlled and adaptable financial operation by implementing best practices and tools that ensure strong fiscal management, encourage cross-team collaboration, and streamline workflows.
  • Coordinate Financial Processes. Oversee the coordination of the monthly business review process, month-end close process, and flash reporting to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Enhance Financial Oversight including Risks and Opportunities:

  • Lead balance sheet oversight and corporate SG&A management, facilitating a proactive approach to financial health and resource allocation.
  • Enhance Financial Forecasting and Analytics. Build, improve, and sustain comprehensive financial forecasting and analytics across the organization to support data-driven business decisions.
  • Conduct thorough business analysis to generate key insights and recommendations, preparing impactful presentations that enable leadership to effectively evaluate business initiatives, projects, and strategic decisions.
  • Monitor Financial Risks and Opportunities. Manage Canada-wide financial risks and opportunities as they relate to finance, proactively creating awareness and mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization’s financial health.
  • Manage and Optimize SG&A. Oversee SG&A management and optimization to enhance operational efficiency and align expenditures with strategic goals.

Oversee Taxation and Compliance:

  • Lead the Canadian tax function, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations, including income tax provisions, commodity taxes, transfer pricing, and tax audits.
  • Serve as a key advisor on tax matters, collaborating with North American tax teams to drive alignment with regional tax strategies and manage regulatory risks.
  • Drive Tax Innovation & Strategy Alignment. Champion the development and execution of innovative tax strategies that align with the broader corporate vision. Proactively collaborate with North American tax leadership to influence tax policy changes, ensuring optimal tax positioning and minimizing the tax burden across jurisdictions.
  • Tax Risk Management & Global Integration. Take a leadership role in identifying and mitigating tax risks, ensuring that the Canadian tax function is seamlessly integrated with global tax initiatives. Serve as a trusted advisor in managing the potential impact of tax reforms, including cross-border tax issues and compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.

Lead Supply Finance:

  • Oversee the Supply Finance function, ensuring the implementation of effective processes to manage accruals, data integration from vendors, and the accounts receivable process.
  • Work closely with Procurement and BP&A teams to optimize Vendor Discount Agreements (VDAs) and enhance vendor relationships through improved compliance and data-driven decision-making.
  • Strategic Vendor Partnerships & Value Optimization. Foster strategic partnerships with key vendors to drive mutual value through improved financial terms and performance metrics. Collaborate cross-functionally to develop vendor management strategies that align with corporate financial goals and improve profitability.
  • Advanced Data Analytics for Financial Forecasting. Lead the adoption of advanced analytics and forecasting techniques within the Supply Finance function. Utilize big data and machine learning models to optimize spend planning, refine vendor performance insights, and forecast more accurately, enhancing financial decision-making and operational efficiency.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Lead and develop a diverse team of 12 professionals, including FP&A, Tax, and Supply Finance staff, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and resources to meet organizational and personal development goals.

Risk Mitigation and Audit Liaison:

  • Support long-term risk mitigation planning, serving as the key audit liaison for Canada. You will ensure that all areas impacting controllership, including tax compliance, are meticulously managed.
  • Strengthen Controls and Governance. Ensure compliance with audit requirements and internal controls, fostering a culture of accountability and transparency across the organization.
  • Serve as Key Audit Liaison. Act as the primary liaison for audits, ensuring all aspects of controllership, tax compliance, and corporate FP&A are managed effectively to meet regulatory standards.

Projects and Ownership

  • Support Special Projects. Offer financial expertise for special projects, including partnerships, new business models, and mergers & acquisitions, ensuring robust analysis and strategic alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Act as Key Financial Liaison. Serve as the key financial liaison for financial integration from Canada, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment with regional financial strategies.
  • Oversee Controllership and Compliance. Ensure adherence to controllership governance and internal controls, facilitating a culture of accountability and compliance across all financial operations.
  • Collaborate as a Trusted Advisor. Partner closely with the CFO and other senior leaders, providing insightful financial analysis and strategic recommendations to drive informed decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting and CPA required OR a proven track-record in similar roles for 8+ years.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive financial management experience in a leadership role, focusing on FP&A, controllership business partnership, data-driven insights, budgeting, analysis, and/or costing. Significant experience in risk management, financial reporting, process optimization, and compliance governance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
