Description
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Mentor the procurement team, providing guidance and coaching.
- Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships; monitor performance, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement.
- Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing, and service agreements to secure favorable terms.
- Source and evaluate new vendors and alternate suppliers and negotiate competitive pricing, high-quality, and delivery terms.
- Monitor supplier compliance with quality, safety, and ethical standards.
- Oversee inventory levels, purchasing plans, and forecasting to ensure reliable supply without overstocking.
- Collaborate with operations and warehouse teams to streamline procurement-to-inventory processes.
- Assess supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory, food safety, and company standards.
- Stay informed on market trends, commodity pricing, and global supply chain dynamics.
- Conduct cycle counts and inventory audits when needed, reconciling discrepancies as necessary and maintain accurate records.
- Provide regular reports on procurement performance, supplier scorecards, cost analysis, and market trends to senior management.
- Use data to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization.
- Ensures adherence to all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience within the food industry – sourcing raw materials locally as well as overseas.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ERP systems, inventory management software (preferred but not required).
- Strong knowledge of purchasing cycles, supply chain principles, inventory control practices and food quality standards.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong business acumen with the ability to align procurement goals with organizational objectives.
- Negotiation Skills: Advanced negotiation to effectively negotiate favorable terms, pricing and contracts with suppliers.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for supplier and internal stakeholder interactions.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized with strong analytical, planning and time management skills (prioritize multiple tasks).
- Problem Solving: Ability to anticipate risks and develop proactive solutions.
- Collaboration: Excellent teamwork skills to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
