ROLES AND RESONSIBILITIES
• Develops metrics to measure compliance with federal, provincial and regulatory legislation and maintain abreast of payroll related legislative changes.
• Create, prepare and validate payroll derived reports monthly, quarterly and annual packages that deliver value add to management across areas such and benefits, pensions, wage progression, sick time, hours worked trends and analysis.
• Report on payroll issues and changes to ensure quality service levels and payroll accuracy are maintained.
• Develop ad-hoc reporting as needed for acquisitions etc.
• Maintain the internal Payroll Knowledge Library and SharePoint.
• Work in tandem with the HR & Payroll Manager to complete year end tasks such as reconciliation of payroll information to vendor accounts and financials, as well as validation and production of T4 statements for our members.
• Monitor and maintain the accuracy of employee data, deductions, garnishments, benefit enrollments and pensions contributions.
• Review, analyze and reconcile payroll and other payroll related data and remittances according to established timelines.
• Responsible for the accurate and on time delivery of a weekly payroll for a designated group of retirement residences and communication with leaders.

Qualifications

KEY ATTRIBUTES / QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• 2+ or more years of delivering full cycle payroll processing including year end delivery.
• Degree/courses in Business, Payroll preferred or Human Resources.
• Payroll Compliance designation (or working towards completion). Hands on knowledge with Ceridian Dayforce or ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint to create data-based reports such as dashboards, visual aides, training material, and documentation of internal processes.
• Strong analytic skills, ability to look at data trends and/or inefficiencies and formulate a solution-based approach to problems.
• High level of initiative, willingness to learn and decisiveness.
• Be familiar with unionized wage rate and entitlement (vacation, sick, overtime) progressions according to Unionized Collective Bargaining agreements.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills via email, phone, and within a virtual environment.
• Tact and empathy to communicate when responding to sensitive and/or confidential information and issues.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while understanding what is mission critical, comfortable with ambiguity where not all situations/scenarios are the same.
