Mechanical Designer

Description
  • Work with the design and development, help desk, and manufacturing teams to improve products’ reliability, manufacturability, and performance.
  • Create and execute test plans and design experiments to evaluate product performance against specifications.
  • Review incident tickets including logs and track reliability issues.
  • Create, review, analyze, and edit Mechanical CAD drawings as needed.
  • Lead root cause analysis on products.
  • Actively participate in the design process offering ideas, concepts, and solutions.
  • Key product stakeholder that provides input on improvements.
  • Act as escalation point in service restoration to resolve problems associated with hardware.
  • Build and test prototype assemblies for design validation.
  • Refurbishment and qualification of development test units.
  • Part inspection to support development process.
  • Manufacturing support (problem investigation, training, work instructions, inspections, etc.).
  • Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Documentation in accordance with medical requirements and best practices
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent program.3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar position is required.
  • SolidWorks design and detailing experience.
  • Superior attention to detail and quality focus.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English, conveying information, concepts, and ideas to others.
  • Ability to work effectively inside a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work activities, to completion, while meeting or exceeding deadlines.
  • Product development experience in concept creation, prototyping and testing.
  • Organization skills, dependability, self-motivated and goal-oriented with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective planning to accomplish both immediate and long-term goals.
  • Ability to display a high degree of tact and judgement.
  • Ability to work under pressure in an entrepreneurial small to medium sized business; ability to work with a sense of urgency within a fast paced and demanding work environment.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change and have an overall positive attitude.
  • Experience interpreting system logs.
  • Script based testing.
  • Engineering test reports.
  • Quality inspection and measurement experience.
  • Ability to use standard troubleshooting tools (multimeter, scope).
