Level 3 IT Engineer (MSP) – Networking & Microsoft 365 Specialist
Position Overview:
As a Level 3 IT Engineer, you will be a senior technical resource responsible for complex troubleshooting, project implementation, and escalations. You will work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to design, deploy, and support Microsoft 365 environments, networking infrastructure, and cloud migrations. Your role will also involve mentoring junior engineers and ensuring the highest level of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Microsoft 365 & Cloud Solutions:
- Lead Microsoft 365 implementations, migrations, and troubleshooting (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams).
- Manage Intune for device management, compliance policies, and application deployment.
- Configure and maintain Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) for authentication, conditional access, identity protection, and role-based access control (RBAC).
- Handle tenant-to-tenant migrations, domain changes, and hybrid configurations.
- Implement security best practices, including Microsoft Defender, MFA, Conditional Access, and DLP policies.
Networking & Infrastructure:
- Design, deploy, and maintain firewalls, switches, VLANs, and VPNs (Watchguard, Sophos, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, or similar).
- Troubleshoot and optimize network performance, including Wi-Fi, WAN, and SD-WAN solutions.
- Assist with VoIP, DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory integration in hybrid environments.
- Perform network security assessments and implement firewall rules, segmentation, and access controls.
Technical Escalations & Support:
- Act as a Level 3 escalation point for technical issues that require deep troubleshooting and expertise.
- Investigate complex performance issues, outages, and security incidents.
- Work closely with vendors and external support teams to resolve escalated issues.
- Assist in creating and maintaining detailed technical documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Project & Client Engagement:
- Lead and participate in client onboarding, cloud migrations, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Collaborate with clients to implement IT solutions that align with their business needs.
- Provide recommendations for improving IT security, performance, and efficiency.
- Mentor and assist junior technicians with knowledge transfer and training.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Technical Expertise:
- 5+ years of experience in an MSP or IT services environment.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID, and Exchange Online.
- Strong experience with networking (firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, switching, routing).
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for Microsoft 365 automation.
- Familiarity with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Windows 365 is a plus.
Certifications (Preferred, but not required):
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals
- Cisco CCNA or CCNP (or equivalent networking certification)
- CompTIA Network+ or Security+
