Description

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and diagnosis any current and/or potential issues in regard to loading docks, overhead doors and doors (commercial/industrial).
  • Make recommendations in accordance with manufacturers’ safety recommendations.
  • Complete minor repairs to loading docks, overhead doors and doors (commercial/industrial).
  • Ensure all paperwork (i.e. work orders, inspection sheets, etc.) is completed neatly and accurately.
  • Ensure pictures are taken in accordance with PSP department standards.
  • Maintain mechanical and physical condition of service equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication.
  • Review inspection findings with customers while on site.
  • Review any major safety concerns found during inspection with customers and advise the office of potential service call.
  • Ensure company provided phone and iPad is kept in good condition.
  • Manage truck parts inventory.
  • Travel in truck from job site to job site.
  • Advise Manager when the truck is damaged or requires repair.
  • Continue to update qualifications as technology changes.
  • Make recommendations in accordance with manufacturers’ safety recommendations.
  • Reviews customer issues with management and tech support.
  • Perform work assignments in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations.
  • Supervise and train helper/apprentice as required ensuring the helper/apprentice works in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for adhering to the company’s health and safety policies and procedures at all times including their apprentice.
  • Assist other service technicians to diagnosis and repair customer equipment as required.
  • Keep workplace clean, clear and safe.
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are in good working condition and secure.
  • Ensure that all work orders are completed and signed where applicable and returned to the office for invoicing in a timely manner.
  • Complete daily truck log and trailer logbooks to comply with CVOR.
  • Maintain all required certificates i.e. WHMIS – Scissor lift – Ladder etc.
  • Adhere to Company Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications
  • Mechanical certification or theory such as Millwright or Class A auto mechanic an asset, will also consider direct industry experience.
  • Has own hand tools, safety shoes.
  • Field encompasses basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, welding, reading schematics, installation and troubleshooting various related equipment, please detail specific courses and or experience.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and written skills.
  • Self-starter and motivator, team player with positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in high applications such as with ladders or scissor lifts.
  • Ability to work with heavy lifting.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing a requirement.
  • Minimum high school (or equivalent) plus mechanical post-secondary training preferred.
