Human Resources Manager for Manufacturing Industry

Location: Woodbridge Head Office; Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm. This is an in-office role.

Job Overview:

Reporting to the General Manager this position leads and provides guidance in best and realistic practices supporting the entire employee lifecycle in areas such as recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefit management, performance and attendance management, employment practices and legislation, Health and Safety, development, and hourly employee skills training.

Key Responsibilities:

1. HR functions:

Be a leader demonstrating effective communication practices at the workplace.
Manage and continuously improve HR processes, and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness while ensuring employee engagement occurs.
Ensure the HR team effectively supports the organization’s needs by supporting all Company departments.

2. Recruitment/On Boarding/Payroll/Benefit/Employee Relations/Performance Mgmt.

Play a critical role in ensuring head count requirements are maintained at necessary levels in the plant, assist with succession planning, and retention strategies. Strategically support office recruitment ensuring Company culture is maintained.
Execute On Boarding as required for new additions to the team, along with transfers within the plant.
Oversee and prepare of online Biweekly payrolls.
Carry out and ensure benefit enrollment occurs in a timely manner and education of the plan is provided through resources from the benefit carrier to all members.
Establish themselves as the contact person in the Company for issues surrounding benefit programs including a comprehensive benefit plan along with a RRSP Plan.
Maintain an understanding of today’s labour market desires and what is required to main a strong workforce.
Conduct investigations and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risk and maintain a positive workplace environment.
Ensure probationary and annual reviews are completed and communicated through the assistance of all Department Managers.

3. Health & Safety

Assist root cause analysis on all accidents and incidents to prevent future incidents. Ensure timely resolution and reporting to hazard, near-miss or incident reports. Champion plant JHSC to ensure visibility.
Review of documented policies, procedures, and safe work instructions. Review annually and update as required.
Manage all safety training records and ensure all mandatory training courses are completed in a timely manner.
Manage occupational WSIB claims including the use of the Return to Work and possibly the Return to Regular Duty Programs.
Manage all non-work-related claims ensuring a safe return to work occur and are well documented.
Monitor ongoing claims to maintain plan oversight and work with the team to oversee the claims appeals process.
Maintain metric reporting, identify trends and improvement opportunities.

4. Training and Development:

Assist identifying training and development needs within the organization.
Manage production skills maintenance training program.
Maintain mandated compliance training.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or a related field. CHRP/L certification or active progress towards completion preferred.
10 years of progressive HR experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Prior experience in a manufacturing or production facility with large hourly workforce a must.
Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations and health and safety supported by demonstrated experience.
Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
A hands on, practical attitude with the ability to quickly assess situations and build solutions to align HR initiatives with production goals.
High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information.
