Head of Legal Compliance Canada – Bilingual

Description

Responsibilities:
• Reviews, drafts and negotiates commercial agreements
• Manages regulatory and corporate compliance program, including designing and developing programs, policies, and practices to ensure that all business units comply with applicable regulatory requirements
• Serves as regulatory subject matter expert, including in areas such as antitrust, data privacy, anti-money laundering, and anti-corruption
• Designs and delivers compliance training programs and prepares and delivers compliance reports to senior management
• Conducts and/or assists on compliance investigations.
• Manages litigation matters with outside counsel as needed, from initial service of matter through settlement, including investigation, discovery, mediation, and trial. Determine course of action and determine potential liability for the company and advise management of same
• Is fluent in English and French
• Manages insurance related claims and matters, including contracts, reporting and litigations
• Advises management concerning Product safety matters and ensures appropriate communication with Health Canada
• Administers local corporate governance activities, in alignment with company’s governance requirements and objectives
• Collaborates with legal and compliance colleagues throughout North America and internationally
• Performs all other duties as assigned

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow through on multiple projects
• Ability to work in a collaborative teamwork environment and share information with the appropriate parties
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and Outlook, and a demonstrable ability to learn any department specific software
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all situations
• Ability to work effectively in a culturally and educationally diverse environment
• Must have an LL.B. or J.D. from a Canadian law school and be an active member in good standing in one or more provincial bars within Canada.
• Domestic and some International Travel by car, airplane, boat, etc. – can include overnight and weekends
• Travel Percentage – 10%
