Electrical Project Manager
Responsibilities:
Position Summary: The Project Manager has the overall fiscal and operational responsibility of assigned projects, including working with project employees to ensure compliance with company procedure and contract obligations.
General Purpose: Ensure safe, successful and profitable completion of assigned construction projects.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide routine coordination and supervision to site personnel of assigned projects.
- Manage project profitability and cash flow to accepted corporate standards.
- Fulfill responsibility as the primary client contact by establishing and maintaining productive relationships with construction management team comprised of individuals from different companies with diverse interests, to ensure efficient coordination of activities.
- Manage the project correspondence and contract obligations to achieve company objectives.
- Provide Region Manager or Director of Construction with timely information as to all assigned project’s financial, safety, productivity, staffing, legal and/or other issues which may arise.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work with forepersons to establish project budget and submit final budget for approval.
- Take off, price, prepare and negotiate all scope revisions.
- Manage accounting issues to include follow up with vendors regarding accounts payable issues and collect accounts receivable.
- Maintain knowledge of content of contracts for assigned projects to ensure installations meet requirements.
- Ensure the safe operation of the project including weekly safety toolbox meetings.
- Develop, implement and maintain labor tracking and cost to complete information.
- Review engineering submittals for understanding of content.
- Provide leadership to all level of people on multiple projects – including those not within direct control.
- Manage required documentation in accord with company procedures.
- Maintain contact and coordination through regular jobsite visits with engineer, architect, GC and field staff to monitor job progress.
- Participate in regular job site, labor, accounting, and EAC meetings in addition to quarterly scope reviews with owners.
- Work with foremen to find best technical way to complete job.
- Establish and maintain a positive relationship with clients to position company for negotiation of new work.
- Approve all material and stock orders from purchasing.
- Work with Human Resources in recruiting and interviewing candidates, providing information for employee performance reviews and disciplinary issues of employees.
- Obtain complete acceptance of work, provide as-builts, collect final retainage and letters at close out.
- Coordinate shut down and removal of tools and material at end of job.
- Additional duties, as assigned.
- Develop and implement electrical schedule into overall project schedule and monitor, update and document.
- Proactively address and resolve issues as they arise.
- Assemble information to ensure accurate and complete purchase of major equipment.
- Work with HR to interview field candidates.
- Work with foreman to purchase and release traffic material efficiently.
- Release schedule and expedite major equipment deliveries.
Work Environment: This position is predominantly located in an office environment. There will be regular outdoor construction site visits with weather conditions prevalent at the time and the requirement that personal protective equipment be worn at all times.
Reporting to this position: Project administrators, project engineers, field personnel.
- Electrical field experience as foreperson, general foreperson, superintendent (6 years minimum) and/ or experience as Project Manager with proven success overseeing comparable type/size projects.
- Financial experience in project budgeting, understanding of accounting procedures and contract terms.
- Understanding of labor tracking concept for construction jobs and ability to instruct others.
- Ability to work within established guidelines/procedures.
- Above average computer skills – especially Excel.
- Current Journey or Masters electrical license.
- Excellent communication and people skills – proven leadership ability.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Engineering, Construction Management or Business Degree.
- Familiar with construction software.
- Understanding of business law and contracts.
