Education Specialist – RentSmart Program

Description
  • Ensure the RentSmart Dashboard and Curriculum are current and prepared for delivery.
  • Lead the continuous enhancement of RentSmart, including systems, processes, and materials for course delivery. This includes soliciting and integrating feedback from participants and educators to inform these improvements.
  • Plan and conduct RentSmart Educator courses and any other tailored courses, either virtually or in-person.
  • Maintain records, compile statistics, and generate reports on RentSmart courses and participants as necessary.
  • Manage curricular content, including adapting the curriculum for provincial and territorial needs, ensuring all materials meet RentSmart standards.
  • Develop educational resources necessary for RentSmart program delivery, such as presentations, workbooks, and guides.
  • Prioritize learner needs, fostering opportunities to enrich their RentSmart experience, with a focus on culturally responsive education.
  • Keep abreast of provincial, regional, and national tenancy-related trends, legislation, and issues, including Residential Tenancy Acts.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with housing organizations, initially focusing on partners in B.C. and Ontario.
  • Support the program manager in cultivating the network of Community Educators across Canada.
  • Assist Community Educators and other partners in delivering RentSmart programs.
  • Support the promotion of RentSmart program, when needed.
  • Monitor RentSmart courses to assess effectiveness, address concerns, and advise on potential enhancements.
  • Assist the manager of RentSmart with administrative tasks, as required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Communications, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in education, training, or community facilitation.
  • Proficiency in WordPress, Learning Management Systems, Customer Relationship Management systems, MS Office Suites, Zoom and modern project management tools.
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching and facilitation.
  • Experience in providing inclusive education to diverse individuals and ability to adapt curriculum based on the needs of learners.
  • Advanced virtual facilitation skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the rental and housing landscape in BC or Ontario.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, counseling, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Familiarity with Human-Centered Design approaches is preferred.
  • Strategic mindset with foresight into future program delivery trends and challenges.
  • Deep understanding of tenancy legislation, tenant-landlord relationships, and common tenancy challenges is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience or familiarity with the RentSmart program will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in tenant education or relations is beneficial.
