Director of Quality Assurance & Food Safety
•Responsible for company Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) technical & management system and program to ensure corporate FSQA programs comply with the regulation.
•Provide FSQA site leadership and guidance to the FSQA team and other functional groups on quality and food safety related opportunities and issues.
•Ensure policy and procedures are updated and implemented. Monitor corrective action taken.
•Liaises with regulatory bodies, and internal and external partners to obtain alignment and collaboration for continued improvement on food safety, quality assurance and compliance.
•Oversee, execute, and report proactively on regulatory changes, audit results and national Food Safety performance for continued improvement and risk management.
•Guide food safety crisis management. Resolves complex regulatory & FSQA challenges by using appropriate judgment and industry expertise.
•Represent the company in Food Safety events such as regulatory inspections, customer audits, 3rd party audits etc.
•Keep up with the technology trend to ensure the right skills and tools are used by the team and meet industry standards.
•Responsible for upgrading related training, programs, policies, and SOPs.
•Responsible for establishing a strong food safety and quality assurance team and culture in the organization. Plan and guide the team to achieve related KPIs to support the business goals effectively and professionally. Keep up employee engagement level and spirit in a winning culture environment.
•Graduate or post-secondary degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or other related disciplines.
•Sound knowledge of Canadian, USA and International regulatory requirements for food products.
•5 or more years of work experience in a GFSI-certified (BRCGS is an asset) food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs.
•Strong analytical and project management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to make cogent recommendations.
•Possess the ability to develop good relationships and network with regulatory authorities and industry organizations across the country.
•Good computer skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
