Director of Finance

Description
Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Finance works together with the management team towards fostering business success for the organization. This position leads the finance team and sets guidance for cost reductions and efficiency improvements. The Director of Finance works closely with Operations to building a highly functioning organization with a positive working environment. The Director of Finance is a member of the CEO’s leadership team playing a key role in the development of business strategies, evaluating line of business performance and reviewing initiatives for new markets and services.
Responsibilities
- Mentor and develop finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
- Develop and execute financial strategies that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Creates and manages the overall budget to include accurate and timely performance reviews of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
- Provides oversight of all cost centers and identifies discrepancies and inconsistencies in data
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile data conflicts, and decompose high-level information into useable management information
- Maintains a system of controls to ensure that assets are used appropriately
- Manage cash flow, investments, and capital structure to optimize financial performance
- Ensures compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and lead audits
- Prepare and present financial reports, and other required financial documents
- Perform business analysis and facilitate various stakeholder inquiries
- Develop and manage dashboards that display key performance indicators (KPI)
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of financial management with a proven track record in a leadership role; preferred experience in a logistics, warehousing, distribution organization
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or CPA designation preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, regulations, and accounting practices in Ontario.
