Job Title: Controller
Responsibilities:
The purpose of the Controller position is to ensure that a variety of general accounting tasks are accurately completed as they relate to processing payroll, accounts payable, credit, costing and banking for all facilities. In addition, the successful candidate will foster a culture of fiscal accountability and collaboration and best practices across the organization. Confidentiality is key in this position along with excellent organizational skills and accuracy.

• Have the ability to identify strategic opportunities
• Bring solutions to the table by recommending and/or performing actions to resolve discrepancies
• Lead the company in compliance with all government legislation related to payroll and maintain all related employee and company records as required
• Process bi-weekly payroll with excellent knowledge of legislative payroll requirements and payroll accounting for 100+ employees in multiple locations
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements
• Post journal entries
• Balance sheets
• P&L statements
• Balance and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts
• Prepare miscellaneous financial and labour reports as may be required by management
• Take the lead on all financial audits and assist other departments with customer audits and in addition, work with auditors on annual audited statements
• Process RRSP deductions, TD1, TD1ON
• Be responsible for all accounts payable/accounts receivable
• Reconcile and prepare T4s
• Monitor cash flow, daily bank reconciliation and substantial invoice payments to ensure cash is available and distributed as required

• This is an independent role within our organization as the successful incumbent and one direct report will make up the entire Accounting Department.
• Success will be measured by the efficiency and accuracy in reporting, interpretation, and communication of financial data.

Qualifications

Requirements:
• An Accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA) is required.
• Experience processing payroll through ADP Workforce Now is required. 2 years
• Experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment is required. 5 years
• Experience in cost accounting is required. 5 years
