Business Development Representative

Description

Responsibilities:

• Identify and maintain a list of qualified prospects & leads
• Contact potential clients through cold calls, emails, social media, etc.
• Manage a new business pipeline and clearly communicate opportunities to management
• Specifically target new business opportunities that will bridge the revenue gap in shoulder
seasons
• Work closely with marketing to help produce sales collateral, customer testimonials and various
PR material
• Research, plan, and implement new target market initiatives
• Manage and lead the process for sourcing new RFPs; collaborate with other internal departments
to compile new business proposals
• Work with the sales team to develop, manage and close proposals for prospective clients
• Attend conferences, industry events, and other networking opportunities
• Negotiate and develop new contracts with key account segments
• Transition projects seamlessly to Project Managers and/or members of the sales team
• Contribute information to sales strategies by evaluating current product results; identifying needs
to be filled; monitoring competitive products; analyzing and relaying customer reactions
• Maintain and help improve a CRM specific process for the business development team

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Post-Secondary in Business, Marketing, Sales or related field
• Event industry experience preferred
• 3+ years in Business Development role (will consider 1-2 years minimum)
• Driver’s license, or ability to travel within GTA
• Ability to travel across North America for tradeshows and meetings

• Proven ability to meet sales goals and targets
• Strong ability to cold call and hunt new business
• Previous success in prospecting business with a strong closing ability
• Collaboration skills: Must be able to work effectively with multiple business units
• Communication skills: Must be able to communicate with clients of all backgrounds and
educational levels. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills are must-haves for
professionals who work in this field.
• Organizational skills: must be comfortable juggling numerous clients, on- and off-site meetings,
and deadlines. Individuals who are highly organized are best equipped to manage the many parts
of the job and keep client proposals and other tasks on track.
• Time-management skills: must understand how to prioritize their time.
• Technical skills: Office 365, basic CRM knowledge
