About the Role
- We are looking for a Controller to join our finance team and oversee the financial management and reporting of our organization.
- You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and audits in accordance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- You will also manage the payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow functions and ensure compliance with tax laws and internal policies.
- You will work closely with the senior management, board of directors, external auditors, funders, and other stakeholders to provide accurate and timely financial information and advice.
- You will work closely with the finance committee to provide advice and manage our investments.
- You will also supervise and mentor a small team of finance and non-finance staff.
Qualifications
- You have a CPA designation and at least 3 years of experience working as a controller or a senior accountant ideally for a not-for-profit organization. (however, flexible with industry experience)
- You have a thorough knowledge of not-for-profit accounting principles, practices, and standards, as well as Canadian GAAP and CRA regulations.
- You have excellent skills in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and auditing, and you are proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Office.
- You have strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and you can effectively communicate financial information to various audiences in both English and French.
- You have a high degree of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct, and you are able to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- You are a team player, a leader, and a problem solver, and you are able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
