Financial Controller

Description

Reporting directly to the President, the Financial Controller is accountable for, and provides the overall leadership of all financial, accounting, payroll, and risk management matters for the Group of Companies. The Financial Controller will lead Department and Divisional Managers in setting annual budgets and financial goals for each business unit in the Group. He / She will oversee and work collaboratively with a group of professionals ensuring a smooth and efficient operation of the financial activities of each business units and work with Senior Management in establishing long term goals and strategies to fuel the sustainable growth of the Company. Some of the Financial Controller responsibilities include:

  • Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions
  • Preparing monthly and year end reports
  • Liaising with external auditors, tax authorities and financial institutions
  • Providing management with accurate and up to date information vital to the decision-making process
  • Managing budgets and cashflow
  • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes
  • Overseeing regulatory remittances and reporting and ensuring compliance with tax and banking authorities
  • Preparing business and project forecasts
  • Managing business risk (insurance, bonding, monitoring, and controls)
  • Participating in the strategic planning and direction of the Company.
Qualifications
  • Preferably have, five to ten years’ experience as a financial controller or senior accountant with a medium size construction company.
  • Have excellent working knowledge of computerized accounting software and Microsoft Windows Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Hold the chartered professional accountant (CPA) designation
  • Have experience in implementing and managing accounting software
  • Have demonstrated ability to handle stressful situation and meet tight deadlines
  • Have demonstrated superior leadership, motivational and mentoring skills
  • Have excellent communication skills in English (oral and written). French is a HUGE Asset
